Treatment Options for Men and Women Troubled by Adult Acne

by Grace Empson

Most people think that acne only affects teenagers and they are quite surprised to see acne breakouts appearing in their late 30s. Adult acne is a skin problem linked to stress and hormonal problems. Thankfully, most men and women can deal with this problem quite easily by using a regular acne cream. Even so, there are lots of people that need something else to clear their problem.

Acne Skincare: Taking Care of Adult Skin

Everyone, especially men and women over 20, must have a daily skin cleansing routine. Even though most people can keep their acne under control having a easy skincare routine, here's one that will help keep your skin free from bacteria, surplus oil and dead skin cells.

In case you are uncertain what a basic cleansing routine includes, it's the following: cleansing, toning and moisturizing daily and exfoliating once a week. Choose products that are successful yet soothing for your skin type. This will take a bit of trial and error, but it will be worth it in the long run.

A Different Type of Solution: Hormone Treatments

Because many adults are afflicted by hormonal acne, it is rather logical to believe that hormone treatment is a great acne treatment. The main objective behind hormone therapy is the ability to regulate the production of androgens, which are hormones that are directly linked to the development acne, however, if you do undergo this type of treatment you should do it under medical supervision.

Spironolactone

This solution is a synthetic steroid that can bind to the body's androgen receptors. This action not just keeps androgens from binding to the cells receptors, but it also helps hinder 5-alpha-reductase activity and reduce androgen biosynthesis. Further studies need to be performed to get a better idea of its effects.

Oral Contraceptives

OCs have a direct effect on how much androgen the body produces because they contain estrogen and progestins. Estrogens are not only responsible for the production of adrenal and ovarian androgens, but they can also help reduce the amount of the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase, which can in turn, help lower the levels of DHT.

Progestins, however, can vary their androgenic or testosterone-like activity. Which, in essence, means that their effect on acne can be variable. When trying to control acne, it is best that you use progestins with the lowest androgenic activity.

All Natural Acne Solutions

Natural acne products are the best alternative for individuals with hypersensitive skin. Products such as honey, tea tree oil and aloe vera can have dramatic effects on acne outbreaks, but there are still other natural ingredients that have proven to be much more effective.

An effective adult acne treatment is possible with BIOSKINFORTE. Acne products such as this one are made with a very potent natural ingredient - Helix aspersa muller extract. This ingredient is key to helping get rid of acne and prevent acne scars.
