Mature Skin can Benefit from Natural Skin Care Products

by Cynthia Alleyne

If you haven't changed your skin care in the last 10 years then you're gonna pay the consequences. Aging means wrinkles, looser skin and hyperpigmentation. But, it also means that our skin is more sensitive and can be easily irritated by traditional skin care products, especially if you're using the wrong producgts.

A very effective type of treatment is combining natural skin care products along with a healthier lifestyle to keep your skin looking younger without leading to irritation. This type of treatment is effective against the common signs of aging because it implies the use of skin care products that contain little or no harsh chemical ingredients. And it also requires the implementation of a healthy lifestyle that includes eating better, avoiding excessive sun exposure and moderating your consumption of alcohol and caffeine.

Antioxidants: Your New Best Friend

Antioxidant skin care is a great start for treating mature skin. UV radiation, pollution, smoking and the natural aging process produce free radicals which destroy your skin cells. Antioxidants help neutralize their effect and slow the aging process.

This is why it's important to get antioxidants from every natural source you can find, including foods. In fact, antioxidant skin creams are a great addition to your skin care routine.

Berries are the best kinds of fruits. Blueberries, strawberries and raspberries are high in antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and fiber.

In fact, these fruits are an ingredient in several skin care products. You can also find Vitamin E and Vitamin C in most antioxidant skin creams and antioxidant serums.

Reduce your UV Exposure

UV exposure produces free radicals, which are known to lead to the destruction of healthy cells. In order to avoid this, you need to moderate the time you spend in the sun. Even though you may think that a tan gives your skin a healthy glow, it is considered sun damage.

Don't go outdoors unless you are wearing sunscreen. You'll simply need to choose a sunscreen that has SPF30 or higher. Once you've put on the sunscreen, reapply often to maintain the product's protection level.

Protective clothing can also be used to shield your skin from the sun. This means wearing wide-brimmed hats and long sleeved shirts in a light weight fabric. Don't forget to also protect your eyes by using sunglasses.

Homemade Products

If you're tired of the usual skin care products you find at your local pharmacy, you can also try making your own natural skin care products. You can find all kinds of great ingredients in your refrigerator, pantry and garden.

Egg whites, for example, are excellent for tightening the skin. Simply beat the egg whites until they are frothy, apply, let set till dry, and then wash off with a moist washcloth.

Milk is another food product that can help treat mature skin. Milk can be used as a natural and gentle exfoliant. It can also help tighten the skin.

BIOBEAUTYBALM is a great natural product that can help you treat sun damaged skin and is a great complement to your sunscreen as it contains ingredients that absorb UV rays. BIOBEAUTYBALM is made with Helix aspersa muller extract. A natural ingredient that helps make this healing balm a great antioxidant cream that can be used to treat the most common signs of aging.
